It is not true that people who are blind or have low vision…

have “highly developed” other senses by default
live “in the dark”
are forced to depend on others
cannot go out alone
cannot use a smartphone or a computer
must be able to read Braille
cannot give precise directions
cannot be parents or do complex jobs and activities
like to touch others to recognise them, or accept being touched without warning
have exceptional memories
cannot play sports
have guide dogs that “know where to go” without guidance
are always sad, dependent, or defined by disability
