Always the Person First
Always the Person First
People first:
individuals with visual impairments have identities, skills, emotions and autonomy.
Don’t assume:
never take control or offer help without being asked.
Trust their abilities:
ask before acting, don’t guess.
Respect their pace and space:
honour their choices and independence.
Interact naturally:
avoid pity or heroism; treat them as equals.
Support means presence:
being there to assist when needed, not substituting their actions.
